[1] Since making landfall at this "port of call" during the high tide of the Full Buck Moon last summer (link within) ~ AMONG CRIMINALS (the Philly band returned to this their "home port away from home" with the waxing Harvest Moon to remark the International Day of Peace (9/21) during the 30 Days of Peace (link within). Returning to the Waterside during the waxing Hunters Moon ~ the band performed a 10/19 gig upriver at the Chit Chat Lounge in Haverhill ~ followed by a "jam and gam" held 10/21 at Newburyport's Market Landing Park to remark World Youth Democracy (link within). An "icebreaker" upriver set plans in motion for the launch of their national tour from New England the first week in March (coordinated with the release of their second album). This, only three seasons after the band would tour New England to debut their first 12-track LP album, "Kill the Myth" last July ...

Making tracks across the New England region as they got their next creation on track ... History records that the band was "discovering the state of that Countrie" some 375 years after the 17th Century adventurer William Wood himself traveled the region from 1629 - 1633 ~ a journey which culminated in the publication of Wood's renowned journal, "New England's Prospect" in 1634. The mind-traveling reader might well check this link within to learn more about Wood's landmark history ~

Then follow "history in the making" as AMONG CRIMINALS traverse New England ~ speaking their "peace" for a better world with their music ~ continuing to write some few lines as a description of the New Heaven as it makes for those who stand upon the New Earth. Along the way, there should be some highly entertaining and enlightening prospects in store for those who find themselves AMONG CRIMINALS. "Knock Wood."

And for the record ~ Among Criminals' new album out April 2008 was titled, "Happy History." Guaranteed the "mind-travelling listeners" will find the music and message the ticket to a world anew.

[2] Take note! For those "provincials" who prefer to catch AMONG CRIMINALS near to port (and around these parts) ~ after AMONG CRIMINALS briefly returns to this region the last week in May to end their nationwide tour [3] ~ they will make way their back in July en route to Canada ~ with the Waterside as the "home port" during their comings and goings. Circle the following confirmed dates on your calendar:

  • Thursday, 7/10 here in port when "in Newburyport everyone meets at The Grog" ~ 21+, no cover, performing from 8:30PM - 11PM
  • Friday, 7/11 upriver at the Chit Chat Lounge in Haverhill ~ 21+, no cover venue, performing from 9:30PM - 12:30AM
  • Saturday, 7/12 at Captain Carlo's in Gloucester ~ 21+, no cover venue, performing from 9PM - midnight
  • Sunday, 7/13, plans in motion for another "all ages" gathering Among Criminals at Market Landing Park
    • Current plans in motion: Among Criminals to stop by the peace vigil typically held Sundays at Market Square from noon until 1PM, stop someplace for some sustenance, then set-up at the Market Landing Park stage (behind the Firehouse Center for the Arts) with concert to begin by 2PM.
      • Learn more about this "Jam and Gam" held in concert with Among Criminals at this this link within.
      • Check back frequently for updates about alternative setting (given inclement weather).

Updates will be posted as the band's New England schedule evolves ~ so check the band's myspace.com/amongcriminals webpage and this site for the latest insight. At this point, since the Thursday, 7/17 (all ages) show at The Station in Portland, ME will be postponed until September --- after an all ages event in Westport, CT on Wednesday, 7/16 --- the band heads up to Higher Ground in Burlington, VT , where they will perform another all ages concert on Friday, 7/18 --- then east to Portland, ME for a gig at the Onyx --- opening for Riot Act. (They may be lured back to the Waterside along the way to see the Tall Ships visit port.)

[3] Among Criminals launched their first national tour (roundtrip from New England) during the "Season for Nonviolence" (January 30 - April 4)~ remaining in New England area before making inroads to New York 3/13 - 3/14 ~ and returned to the Waterside the last week in May before culminating their national tour at Six Flags in New Jersey on 6/1. See this link within for more details about the tour's launch ~ from whence "all matters things and things" will progress. Check the band's current itinerary at their myspace.com/amongcriminals webpage ~ and revisit this link within for a log of their venture.

[NOTE: In concert with these ventures toward a better world ~ the gathering among friends, family, community (and AMONG CRIMINALS) will also serve to remark history and "history in the making" as we close the old style calendar year, "The Year of Golden Opportunities" (M
arch 25, 2007 - March 24, 2008) and begin the next (March 25, 2008 - March 24, 2009) which we have a strong inclination to term: "The Year of Historic Proportions."

FURTHER NOTE: Reserving the term "The Year of (Seeking) a Better World" (in this little corner of the world and beyond) for the milestone (old style calendar) year March 25, 2009 - March 24, 2010. More to follow with the March 7 concert and thereafter.]
